Usability of the search button
Today, most developing an interface to the Center for Training of UNITE, I just faced the question: "In the button that will trigger a search, I write 'Search', 'Search' or 'Search'?" OK, is not the first time I do a search engine, but this time decided to investigate what is used and what the recommendations of the usability Jakob Nielsen.
First, I was the king of web search, Mr. Google.com and Google for my despair USA not only a word but the dobradinha: "Google Search" which later in the pages of results, saw only "Search." Point to 'Search'. It happens that the search is broader, involving many heterogeneous sources, and decided to go on other sites and it was a fight between 'Search' and 'Search' but the 'Search' had slight advantage in the count.
Translating from English, 'Search' is closer to 'Search' and 'Browse' is more to the 'Search. What I realize is that the word 'Search' is widely used when it will seek a document or file on your computer to upload or submit Annex. But the search term is better used for internal searches.
But I could not say that without the signature of Jacózão, which is beginning to expire or are adding many assets in his account, even then, in moments of intense health him in passing some guidelines:
- Do not label the area of research with a title, instead using a button "Search" or "Search", the right of the box.
- Do not offer a feature to "search the web," the site's search function.
- A search in the homepage to search the whole site by default.
- Make available to users in an inbox homepage to enter search queries, instead of offering only a link to a page of search.
After reading what the old wise man said, I chose to use the good old look, as figurinha illustrative.

To close, is my guide to the characterization of search:
Search - Use to seek internal, specific.
Search - Doing research that will get in heterogeneous databases, including consultations bibliográgicas and operating systems support the system.
Search - Search for files, attachments, something that is made manually through file manager or similar.
Okay, I just fight to get one million designers.
The best way to resolve this impasse was to make a search with the target audience of the Center for Internships, but there are administrative factors that impede the search, the way is to follow the guidelines of Jakob Nielsen.

Very good article. It is interesting to deal with questions that comes to mind during our day-to-day work. Whenever I'm designing an interface, it certainly appears, but I think the best and get the data and do tests with the target audience.
